Opening Apple Mac Word Files On A PC

Sometimes an Apple Mac user will email you some Word files that do not seem to be valid files, for example in the screen grab below:
As you can see two of the files are ok, but two other files do not seem to be proper Word files, what’s going on?
To be honest I do not know what causes this problem, but I do know how to fix it.
All you need to do is save the files to your computer, you will notice the problem files do not have a file extension.
To fix the problem just rename the file by single clicking on it, and add the .doc extension to the end of the filename, you will find this magically converts it to a proper Word file and all should be well
